text-strikethrough-none\">that sometimes get us into trouble. <\/span><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Here are some common ones that <\/span><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">C-style <\/span><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">managers<\/span><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> sometimes make.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 If I make a mistake, <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">I\u2019ll lose my credibility<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-justify para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 If people haven\u2019t gotten negative feedback, <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">they will assume they\u2019re doing a good job<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-justify para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 We <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">need all of the information<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> before we make a big decision<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 It\u2019s <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">undignified to show intense or tender emotions<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> at work<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 Time spent relationship building is <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">largely frivolous<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 My judgement is <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">completely objective and unbiased<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> because I use logic<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Emotions have no place<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> in decision making<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 There\u2019s <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">one best way<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> of doing things<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 If my feedback is objective and fair, <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">I don\u2019t need to cater to people\u2019s feelings<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 I need to <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">consider all of the variables<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> before I decide<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 You should <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">keep emotions to yourself<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 If I make a bad decision for the group, <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">it will never be forgotten<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 I\u2019ve thought this through and <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">there\u2019s no better way to see it<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Unintended Consequences for Their Team<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">lack of shared excitement<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> for our work<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-start para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 We<\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> don\u2019t<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> feel like <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">our hard work is appreciated<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-justify para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 We <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">miss opportunities<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> because we\u2019re too cautious <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"_04xlpA direction-ltr align-justify para-style-body\"><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">\u2022 Our processes are <\/span><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">too rigid<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p text-strikethrough-none\">don\u2019t feel connected<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> to our teammates<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">Helping Your <\/span><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">C-style Managers<\/span><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\"> Rethink Their Role<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span class=\"WdYUQQ text-decoration-none text-strikethrough-none\">These managers often need help appreciating that to grow as a leader, they\u2019ll need to embrace the humanity of their direct reports on a deeper level.
